18mm PP Fiber: Maximum Toughness & Crack Protection

18mm polypropylene Fiber

CETEX 18mm Polypropylene Fibers are high-performance monofilament micro-fibers designed for heavy-duty structural applications. At 18mm, these fibers offer a superior aspect ratio, allowing them to bridge larger gaps in the concrete matrix. They are the preferred choice for engineers when working with standard 20mm (3/4") aggregates, providing a deep-seated 3D reinforcement that significantly improves the toughness and lifespan of the structure.

Primary Applications

  • Heavy-Duty Industrial Floors: Perfect for factories and warehouses with high forklift traffic and heavy machinery loads.
  • Fire Protection (Passive Fire Resistance): 18mm fibers are a global standard for reducing "explosive spalling" in concrete during fires by creating micro-channels for steam to escape.
  • Shotcrete & Tunnel Linings: Improves cohesion in sprayed concrete, drastically reducing rebound and improving bond strength on overhead surfaces.
  • Pavement & Parking Lots: Enhances the fatigue resistance of outdoor concrete subjected to temperature swings and heavy vehicle loads.
  • Large Precast Elements: Used in heavy pipes, septic tanks, and bridge girders to prevent damage during transport and installation.

Why 18mm is the "Engineer's Choice"

  • Aggregate Compatibility: In standard concrete mixes using 20mm chips, 18mm fibers provide the most effective "interlocking" effect compared to shorter variants.
  • Energy Absorption: Higher length means higher "pull-out resistance," which translates to better toughness and impact energy absorption.
  • Spalling Resistance: Under extreme heat (fire), these fibers melt to create a network of capillary pores, preventing the internal pressure that causes concrete to explode.
  • Seepage Control: By creating a dense, micro-reinforced surface, 18mm fibers significantly reduce water permeability and chloride ion ingress.
  • Zero Maintenance: Since PP fibers are non-corrosive and non-magnetic, they offer a lifetime of protection without the "rust-stains" common with steel reinforcement.

Dosage & Mixing Guidelines

  • Standard Anti-Crack Dosage: 0.6 kg to 0.9 kg per cubic meter ($m^3$).
  • Structural/Industrial Flooring: 1.0 kg to 2.0 kg per cubic meter ($m^3$).
  • Passive Fire Protection: Minimum 2.0 kg per cubic meter ($m^3$).
  • Mixing Instructions: For site mixers, add fibers directly to the rotating drum with the water or aggregates. For RMC (Ready Mix Concrete) trucks, add in small lots and rotate the drum at high speed for 5 minutes (approx. 70-100 revolutions).

The 0.91 Specific Gravity Guarantee

Trust but Verify: The performance of 18mm fibers depends entirely on the purity of the polypropylene. Adulterated fibers contain heavy fillers that reduce tensile strength and performance. CETEX 18mm fibers are 100% Virgin PP and will float in water. A simple float test is your best tool for quality assurance on-site.
